Job Description
Layer3 is seeking a dedicated Legal Executive to join our team in Abuja, contributing to our robust legal, regulatory, and compliance functions. This role is vital for ensuring our adherence to industry regulations, effective contract management, and strong corporate governance.
As a Legal Executive, you will be responsible for monitoring legislative changes, developing and overseeing compliance programs, and conducting internal audits to mitigate legal risks. You will also play a key role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with vendors, partners, and customers, ensuring they align with the organization’s best interests.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, providing a balance between on-site collaboration and remote flexibility. You will support the Company Secretary and Board of Directors with corporate governance obligations and ensure organizational policies meet legal standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the business complies with industry laws, regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
- Monitor changes in legislation that may impact organizational policies and procedures.
- Develop and oversee compliance programs to mitigate legal risks.
- Conduct internal audits and investigations as necessary.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and customers.
- Ensure contracts align with the organization’s best interests and mitigate potential liabilities.
- Maintain an organized contract management system.
- Assist the Company Secretary and Board of Directors with Corporate Governance obligations.
- Ensure that organizational policies and reports comply with legal standards and best practices.
- Assist in developing governance structures that support the legal integrity of the business.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations in handling of records.
- Develop and oversee internal compliance procedures.
- Support in managing disputes and liaising with external counsel.
- Oversee legal matters related to compliance across all subsidiaries.
- Handle legal disputes involving the businesses.
- Work with external counsel/consultants when necessary.
- Act as the first point of contact for litigation and legal proceedings related to the company.
- Protect the interests of directors in any litigation affecting the company.
- Conduct awareness for staff on legal matters, data protection, and compliance.
- Keep leadership updated on legal developments affecting the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
- Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) and membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
- 2-5 years post-call experience in corporate/commercial law, regulatory compliance, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of industry laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts to mitigate risks.
- Knowledge of GDPR, NDPR, and other data protection laws.
- Ability to identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
