Job Description

Join our dedicated team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. In this vital role, you will provide essential daily living assistance and support to our elderly residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

You will work closely with Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to meet residents' medical needs, including assistance with personal care, nutrition, hydration, and toileting. Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining a safe and clean living environment, assisting with transportation to activities and appointments, and supporting residents with their meal selections and dietary needs.

This position requires a compassionate individual who can adapt care to each resident's unique strengths and abilities, preserving their dignity and self-respect at all times. You will be instrumental in monitoring resident health, documenting care provided, and reporting any changes in condition to the appropriate staff. Regular attendance, punctuality, and effective communication with colleagues are crucial for success in this collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) to residents.
  • Support residents with nutrition, hydration, and toileting needs.
  • Assist residents in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Transport residents to meals, activities, and medical appointments.
  • Supervise and assist residents during meal times, monitoring food intake.
  • Ensure resident safety by maintaining a secure environment and using appropriate behavioral interventions.
  • Assist residents with self-administration of medication as needed and document accordingly.
  • Monitor resident health and report any changes or incidents to the LVN or Health Service Manager.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, reporting any unusual readings.
  • Complete all required documentation related to resident care and medications.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Uphold residents' rights to fair treatment, self-determination, privacy, and civil rights.
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with co-workers and other departments.
  • Provide transportation for residents to medical appointments or emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current, non-restricted California Driver's License.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of California.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Prior experience in congregate living or a healthcare environment serving the elderly is preferred.
  • Computer and keyboard skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Title 22, Division 6 & Division 12 is desirable.
  • Med Tech certification is preferred.
