Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced RN MDS Coordinator to join our esteemed team at Grand Lodge, Masonic Homes & Acacia Creek. This vital role focuses on ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessment process, leading to optimal care planning and maximum reimbursement.
You will be instrumental in determining payment coverage for residents, strategically setting Assessment Reference Dates (ARDs), and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve resident care goals. This position requires a deep understanding of Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) requirements and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the completion of the MDS assessment process and care planning.
- Ensure maximum reimbursement by accurately determining payment coverage and setting ARDs.
- Collaborate with therapy services and other departments to meet OBRA requirements.
- Determine Resource Utilization Group (RUG) levels and assist with admission assessments.
- Stay current with ongoing education related to MDS processes and reimbursement regulations.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team on Medicare coverage and termination notifications.
- Monitor regulatory compliance for the MDS/RAI process.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and discharge meetings.
Qualifications
- Current CA RN license or LVN license.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing.
- At least 1 year of experience in a management, administrative, or supervisory role preferred.
- Prior RNAC experience is required.
- Experience with Minimum Data Set/Resident Assessment Instrument/Prospective Payment System in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
- Resident Assessment Instrument certification preferred; must be certified within six months of hire.
- Experience with and knowledge of Medicare rules, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in computer skills and typing.
- Experience with clinical assessment.
